Hello there! It’s been months since I’ve blogged, so here’s a wee update on what’s been going down in my world.
I was plagued by what I’ll call writer’s block from March-May. I started a particular story three times over because it just wasn’t working.
I finally settled into a flow on the fourth attempt. Much relief took place.
Soon interrupted by minor panic that the deadline for said story was August 20th.
August 20th was the day before the Romance Writers of Australia conference. So you know, I had to be in good form. Not face-down on the floor, hollowed out from the emotional experience that is finishing a book in every waking (and sleep-stolen) moment.
In spare moments in the lead up (clearly outside of time itself), I was assembling/sewing my costume for the RWA conference cocktail party. The theme was Fun, Fresh, and Flirty. I went as Leeloo Dallas from the Fifth Element. Awesome film, highly recommend. I was surprised by how well the costume turned out, if you’ll excuse my horn blowing (below, with Juanita Kees and partners).
I submitted the story on time (barely). Did a happy dance, which my boyfriend recorded and promptly sent to my family. I received many videos of various familymembers celebratory dancing in response. Mental note to do this more often for classic purposes.
I attended the conference and had The Best time.
Received an email from my editor yesterday, letting me know that she enjoyed my story and will send some edits through shortly. So it’s good to go!
Release date will be October 29th. It is a Christmas romance and will be my third book with Tule Publishing. For anyone who has read Her Secret Prince, the hero is Jed’s friend Felix. Jed and Dee make an appearance, as well as Alexia and Parker from The Playboy. Title and cover to come.
And that’s that!
Happy reading x
